Dolphin Build

Hi everyone,

A few people were asking which iteration of Dolphin I use to run my Skyward Sword texture pack.
I use Ishiiruka .357 . You can download it here : http://down.emucr.com/v3/6542625553252352

Report back if you still are unable to get the textures to load, I'm here to help as much as I can.
Be ready for texture pack updates too- lots of exciting stuff is coming in the next couple of weeks!

Farontea's Skyward Sword Texture Pack ~Version 1.0 Download

Hey guys,
Version 1.0 of my long awaited Skyward Sword HD texture pack is now available to download!

https://www.mediafire.com/?wdw6ph5n6bumqe7

This is the uncompressed, ultra HQ version- meaning the performance cost of this one may be high.
Low-end PC owners, do not fear! I am releasing a performance version shortly.

Of course, the pack is still a work in progress, so look out for future versions and add-on downloads for those who already downloaded v1.0.

HOW TO INSTALL:
-Unzip the farontea_skywardsword_1.0.zip file
-Paste its contents into your Documents/Dolphin Emulator/Load/Textures/SOUP01 file directory (Note:SOUP01 file is the PAL directory title. This file title will vary depending on the region of you Skyward Sword ISO file- SUSHi or SOUE01).
-Check the "Load Custom Textures" checkbox in your Dolphin Emulator graphics settings.

If anyone wants to give me some feedback on my work or just suggest any particular texture in the game that needs work, I would love to hear it.

Enjoy! :D

~Updates~

Just wanted to show you guys what I have been working on for the Skyward Sword textures recently I literally just got back from my big gap year trip to Japan (which was SO GOOD) so haven't had loads of time to do it... but I do try and do a little bit every day.

Here's a few screens just to give you an idea of how the textures are looking:

ORIGINAL TEXTURES:

CUSTOM TEXTURES:

I am working on the Skyview Temple at the moment, as well as finishing up on some of the Statue of the Goddess ones. Here's a little tease...

As you can (hopefully) see, I have gone with a painterly finish for most textures.
I felt that this look was in keeping with the game's visual style; and provided a way to mask over some of the more pixelated, hard to decipher textures.

Again, any suggestions/criticism/requests would be SO appreciated. It's so important to hear the opinions of others with this sort of project I think.

I should add that I am working on a thread for the Dolphin forums, so please stay tuned for that :)

Skyward Sword Texture Project ~ Introductions

SkywardSwordTexturePack With the apparent absence of any more Zelda goodness this year, I decided it was about time to attempt a playthrough of the entire series in chronological order in accordance with the official Zelda timeline.

As the timeline dictated, Skyward Sword was first on my list.  Having used Dolphin before (the Wii emulator which magically enhances the aging 480p Wii files to pretty much any resolution you want), dusting off my now yellowing Wii console was not an option for me. Plus, having just built my own video game ready PC, I now had the capability of running it actually smoothly.

Firstly, I just want to say - the game is absolutely stunning in HD.
My PC runs the game at a 2K resolution (Downsampled to 1080p) at full speed and I can honestly say that playing the game at this res changes my score of it from a 6/10 to a 9/10. It is just a much better experience (Yep, graphics whore confirmed. Sorry.)

Secondly...
Some of the textures were in desperate need of some work.
While the engine used in Skyward Sword has been cleverly designed in that it uses a painterly effect to mask over the less good textures, there are still lots which have not been saved by this effect. Muddy, blocky textures which bother my perfectionist soul more than they probably should.

And so...

I DECIDED TO FIX IT.

Starting with the blocky-A-F character textures.

No more blocky eyebrows and lifeless eyes.

I also enhanced both Link and Zelda's starting outfits. The difference is quite subtle, but when viewing cutscenes they definitely look a lot sharper.

More updates are on the way, I have been working on this for quite a while and so far I have 300 textures done and ready to go (I will continue to post these on this blog and, at some point, make them available for download).

If anyone is out there reading this (I can dream..) I would love to hear any suggestions on what to tackle next!

bye for today! :D
